I've just picked up my first ever VFR, a blue 1996 FT and the fuel guage doesn't register at all. Anyone know the best place to start fault finding, and will the low fuel light work without the gauge? For the time tho', how many miles do you folks get to a tank of petrol?

My FV sees about 170 to the tank in town riding and up to 200 touring. I'm pretty sure you've got a 21 litre tank and the reserve should come in with 2.8 litres left. Sorry I can't help you with the fuel guage/light prob

It was too easy! Once i'd lifted the tank an inch or two I noticed a wire and connector dangling loose, saw a socket on the wiring loom and pushed them together. Switching on the ignition suddenly gave me a full tank reading!! Hooray, if only it could always be so straightforward.
