MOST shops will overcharge you for all you're worth.

This is your chance to learn what you need to know about your own bike.

Nothing says the bike won't run with fresh fuel and a new battery.

Hondas have a great reputation for running fine after years of storage.

You can have your bike checked over for the $6 standard NY safety inspection fee, then fix whatever they report needs fixing.

    Honda Bob

You need to go talk to Honda Bob...

He's out in Portchester. Take your bike there, he'll tell you what needs to be done, he'll tell you he can do it or he can sell you the parts to do it yourself...

If you have a trailer, I can tell you where you can get your carbs rebuilt for only $200!!!

I'm located between Yonkers and Hastings on the Hudson...

DIY, fear not what you can do for your bike, but what a shop might do to it and your wallet.

IF you are from Westchester you might not care about being ripped off by an overcharging dealer because overcharging and rip-offs is what you got YOU your VFR and a house in Westchester.....

BUT if you want good dealer who cares about anything other than MONEY.....just before you ride in, lower both tyre pressures to about 12 psi.

If your pressures are the same when you pick the bike up, you have a BAD DEALER !!

A good shop will always check routine safety items before releasing the bike !

    Wtf?

WTF is up with the Westchester Crack?

Honda Bob in Portchester is a fair man, he has worked on my bikes for years...

Yes it's a dealership, so? To assume EVERY Dealer is out to rip you off is asinine!

The remark about Weschester and about not caring to be ripped off is not only immature but totally uncalled for. You sad attempt at contributing to this forum failed miserably. Try again.

From what I've seen, in NY shops (Long Island, Westchester, 5 boros, etc). The shops are usually busy b/c of a combination of things:
    1. riders dont know how to wrench
    2. no time to fix b/c of life demands
    3. who the eff has a garage in the city? and if you do, you risk getting robbed so why own any tools?
    4. it goes on and on...

In any case, a good number of dealerships rent their showrooms and shops for big $$$$$. The idea is to get the bikes in and out fast to keep the cash flow moving, remember dealer needs to pay the rent, labor, insurance, loans.

Many times, the basic safety checks of a motorcycle aren't done, & even more so, the work order is filled as completed but the work was never done. You get half ass to no service and get charged up the wazoo!

If you're lucky and know a good shop that can do it all, that's great!.
Sometimes, you might be better to find a local mechanic on craigslist or word of mouth who works out of his/her garage - and from my experience and from those of some fellow riders, that has been the best way to go.

    Fair?

Stop crying about shit that didn't happen for whatever reason...

Life is unfair, someone who cries unfair is looking for pity, sorry I don't do that.

    Grow up!

Fair, do you think it's fair that I have to listen to your complaints on a VFR forum? NEXT!
