Winter causes one to dream of the great American adventure. And many of us have desired to have an all VFRW meet-up at one time or another. It gets talked about and then forgotten...
So, I have decided I will propose it once again. I have a few incentives to offer.
I have access to 280 acres in North Central Kansas where VFRW could have a camp out for free. Camping, BBQ, shooting(hassle-free), and free fishing close by. My property is smack dab in the middle of the country(mere minutes from the certified geographical and populational center).
To make all of this possible a certain amount of planning is required. The most important piece being, WHEN?
Spring and fall are nicest in Kansas. I think for the best turn out we should see which month(May-Sept.2010) is best for those seriously interested. Once we have established When and Who, we can proceed with the technicals.
So, Who's seriously interested in a VFRW meet-up in Kansas, and When?

Is May tornado season? Nice of you to kick start this Drew....thanks for that! Kinda a catch 22, if we had this in some place with twisties like Colorado, we lose members who don't want to spring for accomodations, but we gain some that want the twisties....hmmmmmm

Yea I know it's been talked about to death. Still I get Drew's' meaning thou about winter think tank. Gee Drew, see what ya started.. ;)

I definitely would be down for any West Coast meet up anywhere from San Diego to Seattle, You know I love you like a brother Drew but I would rather chop off my penis than take a road trip to the flat lands of Kansas

The idea was to provide a place free of charge where no one would have to travel farther then the next guy. Smack dab in the middle, get it. I have provided that, now tell me how many of you are interested.

As far as the central west coast thing goes, my place in Susanville is still open if anyone wants to whine about that.

I see the comments on Kanasas but please understand. This is meant to be a meet for the whole country. So smack in the middle of the country was the Idea. Roughly equal distant from east and west coasts. Drewl was nice enough to pony up a place to camp and hang out.
The reason for the poll is to decide if enough people are interested before going ahead with planning. Which as you can imagine is not easy.

I am sure there will be great riding along the way.

I would love to attend a meet like this. The idea is just about perfect! And you can't tell me the ride out there from either coast wouldn't/couldn't be fun!!

well, 2010 is scheduling up pretty busy for me as we have started saving for Europe again (got canx this year due to poor economy) and Hawaii but I think I can sneak off in May possibly. I'll have to check with the wife and see for sure when the trips are but I think that May is still open.

It's a cool idea but the way my schedule is I can only do short weekend trips for the forseeable future.

I'd like to suggest the mountains of North Georgia. There are cabin rentals available. There is camping @ TWO (two wheels only) which is a motorcycle only resort. Both the cabins and camping are in Suchess Ga. and smack dab in the middle of some great roads. Deals Gap, Blue Ridge parkway, Cherahola Skyway are all within reach as a bonus. www.twowheelsonly.com

Kansas is at least 24 hours from me - sorry, not happening.
