handlebar mods/levers/seat

    Okay, I'm too old to ride a full blown sportsbike. I could use input on some mods. Keep in mind I'm 48, 6'2" and 265. Bars- Genmar risers or Helibars(it's an 01)? Seat- Corbin/Sargent or modify stock seat and re-staple(don't want to lose any height. Anyone ever seen levers with the same hitch shape as Pazzo's or CRG's(can't really justify the cost); just a closer in handle section. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

    I have the Pazzo shorty lever's on mine. I love em. They are well made and, IMO, worth the cost.

    I put a set of Helibars on mine a couple of weeks ago and they made a difference in my riding position. I'm 6 feet and about 225. The bars lift your riding position a little bit up and a little bit back. I can ride for quite a while now without feeling uncomfortable in the least. Easy install. Well worth the investment.

    bjmike, when you installed the helibars, did you have to do any re-routing of brake lines or clutch lines?

    I didn't have to re-route any lines but I did have to cut the front tab at each reservoir to allow the lines to twist forward. The lines are too short for the raised bars so you have to tip the reservoirs down a bit and spin the lines forward to get the maximum length on the lines. The helibar instructions tell you what you need to do. I cut the tabs with a dremel tool. Really easy to do. My biggest challenge was around my forks. There is a safety clip located on the fork that locks the stock bars in. When I put the helibars on, the groove for the clip was hidden by the base of the bar and could not be re-installed. I hade to undo the fork support just above the fender and pound down the triple clamp using a piece of wood and a rubber mallet to get more of the fork extended up. Love the bars and would certainly recommend them to any of the taller riders. I hope this info helps. Good Luck!

    Go whole hog and get or make your own superbike handlebar setup. I love mine and now put them on every bike I get unless it all ready has them.

    Also, you can lower the footpegs by changing over to a Buell design and/or request additional height on an aftermarket seat.

    I have a set of (gold) Pazzo levers for a VFR as well as a set of LSL Spiegler Superbike adapters; these clamp on to the tops of the (41mm) fork tubes and allow the installation of conventional handlebars. Asking $100 for the Pazzos and $125 for the LSL adapters or $200 for both including USA shipping.

    I'm 6'1" and have gone the route of the Sargent seat and Genmar risers. The Sargent is a must as it is the best position and extremely comfortable for any distance. The Genmars or shorter than Helibars but work good enough to take the weight off my wrists with no more numb fingers. Also they only take 5 minutes to put on or take off so I can put them on for touring and off for sport riding. No modifications to anything are needed. I too like the look and idea of Pazzo levers but can't justify the cost right now.
