headlight went bright then normal.

last night on the way to work my headlight went brighter for a few seconds, then back to normal. I wish it was that bright. maybe its supposed to be? Voltage surge? rec. or reg? Thanks in advance.irate:

 

One indicator of an electrical issue......

 

That can be a sign of the RR unit starting to fail. I've seen similar symptoms on one of my 3rd gens.

 

ya it was slow last night at work, so I got to surf the web. checked out wire my bike and roadstercycle stuff. gonna have to do a test and go from there.

 

I just finished replacing the reg (and upgrading the wiring) on my gen 4. It was trying hard to tell me that it was dying, and it died valiantly, finally oozing molten stuff and refusing to charge. Fyi those bright/dim headlamp events are probably jumping up to 17 to 18 volts !
