Hi All, I am now the happy and proud new owner of a 1998 VFR. And I will be even happier on tuesday when I can get an inspection and a plate and ride this baby! It appears to be mostly stock except the evil little stub of a muffler on it. And I am not sure if the headers are stock because it doesn't look like there is room for a center stand. The good news is that it only has 6007 miles on the clock and looks good except for a few minor dings. As for me, I started riding motorcycles 10 years ago and the VFR was the first bike I really wanted. Couldn't afford one so I bought a 91 CB750 Nighthawk instead. A month after I bought it I headed out from NC and rode it to Cali and back - 10,000 miles in a month. I kept it for 6 years until I started getting really bored with it and wanted something totally different so I bought an 81 Shovelhead. Best and worst thing I ever bought. If nothing else it taught me a whole lot more about working on bikes than that CB ever did. Three years later I got tired of working on the shovel and tired of not be able to trust it enough to ride it out of the county so I put it on craigslist. A guy offered me this VFR and some cash and the circle is complete. I am right back where I wanted to be 10 years ago. anyway, here are some pics. Any thoughts or suggestions on the exhaust? I havent gotten to ride it at highway speed so I cant say how obnoxious it is, but its not bad at all at idle. See ya on the road. I have some miles to put on this thing. - Cliff
You'll love this bike - low miles too. I owned a new '99 5th Gen and it was a great bike. I haven't seen an exhaust like that before on a VFR. It's hard to say whether it will affect performance or not. If it is just plain old too loud, then that might be enough to replace it. Congratulations and welcome to the forum.
