Just visited to introduce little ole me!

Own a Pearl White VFR750FM since 2001,bought it with 17k miles on the clock and just quietly and (I hope) subtly improved it over the years.

Love riding it and tinkering/polishing and just plain admiring it.....sigh..must get out more....!

I will try and post some pics soon once i can work out how to reduce the file size....worked it out once but forgotten now

    Have a good day everyone:smile:

Welcome to the forum. We need more of you from over there. Several have signed on but they don't seem to be very active once here for a bit. None the less, I think you will find lots of sound advice and support here.

I love washing and polishing mine too. I do it often. Every time I drop the sumbich.

    Hi Randy

Thanks for the welcome, always great to get replies from so far away! I guess we all share a common affection for the VFR!

Have attached a pic of the dear old thing, rode it for the first time since September 2011 yesterday and bumbled about on my new Maxxis Touring tyres, making sure I took it very steady...!

I don't know if you guys have access to the Maxxis range, they get good write ups here in the UK...once they are fully run in I will let you know how well they suit the 750FM...probably w!ay ahead of my ability, I am certain.....

Can't say I have heard of those over here. You can get a few things over there we do not here unless we find them on the net and order them. I am sure it is the same way for you. I have had good luck with Michelin PR2s and now Michelin PR3s Have had two of the PRs and this is the first PR3. I am getting good mileage on them as the bike has been used as a Commuter until a month ago when I did away with the reason to commute.

That is a sweet ride. And BTW. Wifey and I were over that way last summer. 14 days on the ground. England, Scotland Ireland and Wales. We did make a quick stop at Worcestershire. And yes, I did get an education from the tour guide on the proper enunciation on the word. I think I saw you and waved. Anyways, I have to say, that trip was without a doubt, the best vacation I have taken in my 57 years of inhabitating this planet.

    Hi Randy

    Wow small world..!

Glad you enjoyed the trip - my wife wants to visit Canada and go on the Rocky Mountain train, perhaps once our daughter settles down and we get some spare money (as if...!)

We both do more MTB riding these days and even though the UK MTB scene is getting better developed, we both look at the Whistler YouTube clips with envy!

Maxxis do Sport Touring tyres for the 'FM at around GBP180 per pair compared with around GBP250 a pair for Michelin/Dunlop/Avon equivalents - we have the dreaded rain to cope with here plus cool temps (around 10 degrees C at the moment) so quick warming stuff is very popular.

Worcestershire pronunciation is OK - wait until you try Alcester, Leicester, Rocester and Gloucester - try getting Japanese to say Gloucester!

    Thanks for the warm welcome

    Peter

The Rockey Mountaineer runs right through my town but does not stop. Our weather in Chilliwack, British Columbia is pretty much the same as yours. I have moss growing between my toes that keeps me toasty warm. If you make the trip, be sure to drop me a line here at VFRW. The terminus for the Rockey Mountaineer is only an hour and a bit from my place. Here in Canada, the USA for that matter, that short of a trip, we will go for coffee.

Hi Peter - Welcome to the mad house.

I have only seen Maxxis motorbike tyres advertised in magazines, but if Maxxis mountain bike tyres are anything to go by, they should be pretty grippy. I run Maxxis tyres on my Specialized Epic mountain bike and have been impressed by how they cope with the sort of wet loose rock descents we have in the Chatel Mountain Bike Park.

Unfortunately living half way up a mountain means the local motorbike dealers only stock Pirelli and Bridgestone tyres, anything else takes a week to arrive and comes with a hefty premium. At the moment my VFR is on BT22's which provide great wet weather feel and the soft edge grip works really well on the twisties, whilst the hard wearing center ply handles longer runs without squaring off.

The VFR always looks stunning in white but having owned a white car I quickly realised I would never buy another - as it required way too much cleaning! To be honest in summer I don't do much cleaning or polishing - just riding, after all with metres of snow here between November and April I get 5 months to clean the VFR! - although I just might go skiing :)
