    :(:(:(

So I went out, rode for 10 minutes, stopped at the store, grabbed my groceries, stuffed them in my backpack...

Geared up, sat on the Viffer, turned on the ignition, waited for the EFI to self test, all was well... turned it on, and as it sat there (still at operating speed, only stopped for 5 mins) there was a strange eclectic whirring noise from the front, almost whistling. I frowned, put it in gear, released the clutch and the noise went away. As I was riding home, the only time it occurred was in neutral or then the clutch was pulled in.

Then, when I pulled in to the parking, I turned it off to open the garage noise because the noise was really unsettling me. Comes from the front end. Thought maybe something was stuck in the fan, but it wasn't hot enough for it to come on.

When I turned it back on... turning the ignition to "on" was enough to start the bike. Could something be keeping the starter in the "on" position?!??

Hi, I don't really know, but are you sure the oil level is correct, proper type of oil, and clutch fluid level is good?

Let me get this right...you just turned the key on and the bike started?? Without pushing the "start" button? Sounds like a stuck starter solonoid or a stuck "start" button. My '83 stuck the solonoid, but it kept cranking even with the key off. So might be the start button.

Ah great point, since starter is interlocked with neutral&clutch it would then stop churning once in gear and clutch is released.

Sounds like a warranty issue to me. I'd take it to the dealer before digging into it myself.

Ended up being the starter button stuck :baby:

Going to see if there's anything in there causing it to... maybe needs a cleaning. So weird. Bike's stored inside, etc. Hasn't seen rain yet.
