Here is my problem; the speedometer does not work at any speed or rpm. It once in a while might read 1 or 2 mph then return to 0. It just kind of went erratic then to 0 during a ride one night. New and full charged battery didn't help the problem. I hate to ride it and am really missing out. I am not in a great position to tear it apart as I have moved across county and do not have all my metrics. It is a 2004, stock no mods. I did have the headlight pin connector recall done and wonder if there is a now loose connection. Local shops are of little help as I see they want clock time plus parts to fix it. Hoping that somebody might have a clue. Also want to verify that the speed sensor is the part mounted to the countershaft sprocket.

    Thanks

Pluck the speed sensor off and inspect the coupler, my money says it is damaged . If the center of the coupler has the shaft sticking through it you may be able to just pull it back out and realign it with the sprocket bolt.
