High idle speed after warming up

    Hi guys I am new to this forum and hopefully I am posting on the right section.
    I ride a 1996 Vfr750 and do little milage on it every year. I have noticed in the last couple of rides that when the engine warms up the idle speed doesn't fall under 2k revs and fuel consumption has gone higher.
    The bike starts well is a bit of hesitation on how the revs pick up when cold (not as smoothly as when warmer, I put this before to cold damp weather in UK) but other then that when choke goes down the revs settle at 1k it happens when the engine warms up proper that the revs stay at 2-2,3k.
    Any ideas, could it be that the carbs need synchronisation?
    If thats the point is it worth doing it at a mechanik with manometer or is it worth taking for a Dyno set up?

    Fuel mixture screws? You can get access to all four of them and spray some carb-cleaner in there and blow them oot. Be careful of the needle jets, they have a jet, spring, washer, o-ring; in that order. Sometimes the o-ring gets dried oot and needs to be replaced. In your case, I would do that, here is the deal though, Honda in their infinite wisdom makes you buy the entire carb rebuild kit to get those little o-rings. I did my carbs so the o-ring was not an issue. You may be able to source them anyway.

    Synchronization usually is lower speed and low speed ridablity, not warm up or revving down. Unless they are way way way oot. I wouldnt bother jetting or anything, if they need service, bring them to a decent shop that will hook up a manometer after they clean them. If I was near you I would work on your bike for a steak and kidney pie. :yum: Cheers and good luck, keep us posted

    Unless you have computer-monitored FI to compensate, it's NORMAL for a hot engine to idle faster than a cold one. Just like your heart flutters more for the latest Hollywoodiva celeb than for Dame Maggie Smith. Honda placed the idle speed adjustment screw within easy reach for just that purpose, and you're expected to use it.

    It would been nice if it was such an easy solution, I tried that when it did it first time but when bike cools down and I restart it it want start as the idle is way lower.
    Revs do go way higher when I pass newer Vfr1200 though ;)
