Has anyone gone with the factory hugger Honda offers in the accesory catalog? Any idea how it compares to aftermarket one's? List price is only $129

To me, the Honda hugger lacked both form and function. I went with the Pyramid Plastics rear hugger. Nice lines that compliment the bike, and infinitely better protection, both over and under the swingarm. My shock and linkage stay squeaky clean. I haven't regretted the decision yet.

Would you mind posting a pic of that on your bike?

Tough to get a good shot because it's so damn dark down there, but I used a worklight to help get the pics. Looks like my Di-noc is getting a little ragged around the edges. Guess I should have wrapped around the underside before cutting it. I'll probably re-do it when I do tires.

But as you can see, it keeps the shock and linkage really clean!

Edit: If you click in my first post where it says "attachment", you can see what it looked like before the Di-noc. Don't know why I can't get that pic to show up.

Went with Harris Hugger -kind of a PITA to mount, but it looks and performs great!

Unless I'm missing it, they don't make one for the 1200. At least there isn't one on their website.

Oops. Sorry, Dave. I didn't check to see whether Harris made one for the 1200 before I opened my big mouth.

If anyone Stateside is interested in the Pyramid Plastics hugger, it might be worth your while to contact Jerry at www.pirateslair.net. I have zero affiliation with them. He normally specializes in European bike parts, and I bought many from him over the years for my previous K-bikes, and experienced great service. When I saw on Pyramid's website that he was a US distributor, I messaged him last night. He just happened to be putting together a large order for other things from Pyramid, and said he'd throw the hugger and front fender extender in on the order, no problem. The order is going in in the next day or two, and he said he would just charge me sticker price with freight split over all the items...cheaper than I could get it direct, anyway.

    Just a FWIW....

FWIW, I bought mine from Streetfighters by Design under similar circumstances. He sells their products and put in for mine with his regular order.

You're welcome, and I hope everything goes well with the transaction for you.

Hi Dave - thanks again for your original post on this thread. It's what convinced me to go with the Pyramid unit in the first place.

Just picked up my new VFR1200 - saw this post about the rear hugger and also emailed Jerry! I just did that at 8pm CST, so I'm not sure if I made the order or not.
    Thanks for the information!
    Chris.

Hi Sayo, yeah the same things happens on mine. Only after a long journey though, so it's either when the tyre expands from heat or from wind pressure. Running cold or in town it's fine, but the hugger seems to sit off centre regardless. I asked Honda main dealer if they could adjust it and they said it's non-adjustable. I bought the bike with it fitted, so I'm just going to buy a different one instead and fit it. Checked with Chiswick Honda and they have discontinued the official Honda one.

Any one have any recommendations? Don't like the R&G one as it seem to have a bit that covers the metal swing arm...

I bought the Honda one on eBay (US) two or three months ago. It is still listed, so they must have some in stock.
