    Hi All

First post here, I did a search but could'nt find the answer.

I just order a new 06 VFR with ABS  , now reading the spec. it says the rear wheel with ABS but, doesn't say any thing about the front wheel. How dose the front wheel ABS work? Like others I don't mind spending the extar $800.00 for the ABS for the one time I might need it.

    Thanks for any help.

    congradulations on the new vfr:clap2:
I have an 06 with ABS linked brake system .the info is non existent, but
I am a german car mechanic so I just went out in the rain and tryed to lock the front wheel .I also tried to do a stoppie .:der:This is what I found out.
First I just grabed a fist full of break to do a stoppie . It felt like the rear wheel lifted then the brakes felt soft .Then I did the same thing with my weight back. it just feels a little wodden when the antilock kicks in .(nothing like the buzz and kicking pebal in a car system) but when the front tire finds traction and because you keep pulling in the brake lever trying to stop (say in a panic) suddenly the bike is not moving .a great thing since that was the idea ,but when the systen kicks off you almost go over the bars the first time. I would try it so you know what to expect . I also like the linked brake .
Sport bikes dont have much use for the rear break . I like it because I ride in the rain and it alows you to get a little heat in the front roters before you need to do a hard stop.

    Hi Biketoc

Thanks for the reply. I take it as the front wheel did'nt lockup on you. I guess your next test will be in the snow:smile: I am hopping that my bike comes in next week, I will have about a 150 mile drive home.

Hi Allen, enjoy your new ride.

Have a closer look at your front wheel, there will be a toothed ring. This goes through a sensor, it detects if the wheel is about to lock up. It automatically releases the brakes & then re-applies them so you don't lock up.

I don't know the full details on ABS, are details on the Honda website?

the ABS system works on both front and rear wheels to prevent lock up.that is done with a control unit and a mechanical valve assembly.
On the linked brake system the front brake lever activates four of the six pistons in the front brake caliper. The rear brake pedel activates the rear brake caliperand the two center pistons of the front brake claiper. Also on the ABS model there is a knob th adjust the rear shock. I could not find any information on the system even the service mnual us fuzzy on how it works .

Thank you All, I went to a dealer today and got to see the ABS set-up, and a 06 white interceptor. I am hopping that I get my call this week that my bike is in.
