I think we've all seen videos of dirt bikes & atvs ripping it up on city streets. Apparently the NYPD has a method for destroying bike confiscated in such incodents....

I agree it's a terrible waste. But if they sold them, wouldn't the guys that lost them just buy them back? Maybe have an uncle, sister, brother, neighbor, whatever just buy it back for them. I'm thinking you'd almost have to haul them out of state to sell em and keep that from happening.

I would have preferred to at least part them oot on E-bay or sell them to an oot of state wrecker. The owners of said bikes ,if the same fucktards I have seen in the aforementioned videos, should suffer that punishment instead. My blood boils when I see those videos.

Too bad they couldn't crush the owners instead of the bikes.

A bit of my soul died watching that video. What a waste - they could have auctioned them off and put the proceeds to something useful. :(

I felt that way when Buell crushed a perfectly good Blast for an advertising stunt. When I was a kid, I want a bike so bad that watching someone destroy one on purpose just hurt me.

What a stupid fucking waste. They could have gotten thousands upon thousands of dollars, instead they stood on display, showing that they are absolute fucktards. I literally don't possess the vocabulary to describe their level of sheer idiocy.

When you can blame the criminal you must punish the machinery.

The sad thing is you should read the rhetoric that there is here in the papers about "hooligan bikers" and how they deserved to have their bikes crushed like that. Commissioner Bratton went as far as to say "These bikes that are so near and dear to them, when you take a look at them, a lot of them are dressed up," Bratton said. "They put a lot of time and energy into them but they are not going to be too happy when we take those damn things and crush them so they can't be used." Idiots who ride like fools endanger all of us, and should have their bikes taken away. But there is a growing sentiment that everyone who rides a bike is a selfish, delinquent malcontent.

A free people must be, for the most, part self policing. To ride without respect for the law (state) is to attract the undue attention of the state. The state will go to great length to protect its sovereignty and its reputation. You flaunt laws and mock the state to the peril of us all. As you said we are all in danger of being labeled selfish, delinquent malcontents by the powers that be and by the community in general. No good can come from it.

Sounds like California's mantra; Why punish the criminal when you can punish the just instead.
