Btw if this is better posted in the garage let me know. Ok, I recently did a swap with new plugs, cleaned the K&N filter and bike ran really smooth. This was normal TLC but she had been running a bit sluggish and the plugs had 20,000 miles on them. This last weekend I went out for a energetic ride with a fire blade and a ZX-14. She did good not really pushing her, great day. we put about 800 miles on the that day. I start her up the next day and she has a some notable valve train noise from cold start to warm idle and her idle is very rough and notably loping. It makes think of my old Vf750F when the carbs were out of sink. I've also noticed a metallic tap/clank sound when I blip the throttle lightly. It can be briefly heard when it returns to idle. I'm wondering is this the dread came chain tensioner story or the starter valves need some TLC. Any ideas where to start. I'm also thinking do I have a spark plug issue? The valves were checked at the proper 16,000 mile service check and everything was supposedly within spec. BTW I'm running Motul V300 and this oil has about 2000 miles on it. Any suggestions??
How many miles do you have 18,000 ? If so that's very low for cam chain tensioners, however it is possible. And it's fairly easy to fix too.
