 Yep the 08 1000rr are at the dealers, got to sit on one, push it around, boy are they light, wish the VFR was that light, be perfect then, that and they look way better in person, but, I don't know, they sound so boring..

From a cosmetic standpoint I like the 1000... except for the rear fender. What the hell was honda thinking putting such an off thing on there!?

It's almost like a mechanical arm that sticks out and says "HEY LOOK! IT'S A LICENSE PLATE! SEE IT? COOL HUH? IN YOUR FACE!"

I don't know...the bike is really ugly to me. And everybody and their grandmoms has either a CBR or a YFZ. I don't know anyone else who owns a VFR. I kinda like that...

Just get the 1098 Duc already... although I really like the CBR in silver and maroon (or purple, whatever they call it).

Either way, it's going to be a compromise and an issue. Might as well get what you really want.

I feel inclined to remind you that I am no longer married, so my opinions are essentially non-applicable...

But man when you hit the starter you go Huh? sounds like a Civc. Ain't bikes suppose to sound like Hmm like they're ready to rumble?

I'm really surprised Honda doesn't put a gear indicator on these bikes.

I think it looks great, in person, in the mags it's always hard to tell. The tails all come off on Race replica bikes very easily, they finally figured out thats usually the first thing to go. Honda and Yamaha, in my opinion, always have the nicest looking bikes, with the best fit and finish and overall quality. Things could have been worse, look what Kawasaki did to their litre bike, now that is ugly.

I have to say I do like the looks of the Duc. However, put the Duc nose on the 1000RR, and I would like the RR a whole lot more than I do now.

    RVFR:

The 1000RR is light, but in practical terms (i.e. street riding) its not going to do much for us.

If you did alot of track riding, then I can see the interest.

I made a trip to a couple of dealers today, I needed oil & filters & a new tank protector. My trip took me to a Honda/Yamaha & Suzuki/Kawasaki/Triumph/KTM/Polaris. I had the oppurtunity to look at some of the new models available today. There is a very disturbing trend in all of these bikes. They, each & every one, are freaking butt ugly. I looked at the:

    Honda CBR1000RR
If Honda does to the 600RR what it did to the 1000RR, it can pretty much count itself out of the sportbike race. The CBR1000RR needs to stomp the ever loving crap out of everything on two wheels or Honda will not be able to sell them, it's that ugly.

    Suzuki B-King
The B-King is pretty much a useless motorcycle. It has about 852 HP in a standard frame. If I wanted (or needed) that much power, I want it in a chassis that can exploit that power. Another disturbing aspect is the width of the tank. I am not exaggerating, it looks like it's about 3.5 feet across.

    Kawasaki Versys
This thing is the standout of ugliness I witnessed today. Why on earth ANYONE would pick this bike over the equal costing SV650 is beyond me. The SV will also out-perform it in pretty much every catagory of riding save for touring.

    KTM Super Duke
Looks like origami on wheels. It may be as much fun as humanly possible on two wheels but there is no way I would choose this bike over the dead sexy Ducati Monster S4RS.

Harley CrossBones (in the parking lot at the Honda place)
This piece of garbage looks like a menagerie of spare parts thrown together. Naturally, the Orange & Black Cult charges $17k for this POS. The price was confirmed by the owner, who said he was at the Honda dealer because they carry a better line of gear. What he meant was clothing that actually works instead of being slathered with HD logos. The last words I said to this guy were "Whoever is dumb enough to buy that thing, deserves it." Surprisingly, he laughed.

Why are bikes getting uglier? Someone please explain that to me. Ducati did that with the 996 (arguably one of the best looking bikes ever made) by turning it into the vomit inducing 999. Thankfully, they listened to their customer & cranked out the 1098 which is sex on two wheels.

This is, obviously, one man's opinion. Yours may indeed difer.

Yamaha have managed to keep their R1 looking good and this years ZX-10R looks better this model than the previous one so perhaps all is not lost.
