So. I just replaced my tires because my rear had a puncture. That was my third set of tires, and third puncture. I'm now on my fourth set (in 13k miles) and have about 150 miles on my new tires. This morning I pulled a screw out of my rear tire, which was lodged up in one of the treads sort of flush along the tire, but slightly dug into it. It didn't come anywhere near going all the way through, but a tiny bit of the braided steel in the tire is visible.

Now, needless to say, I'm $%&$&$%& sick of replacing my $%^&&$&$& tires every #$^#^$# few thousand miles. Any experienced folks care to weigh in on this? Think I'm okay with that chunk of rubber dug out? I feel like it should be fine - if the tire was so delicate that having that pea size chunk of rubber missing could cause a failure, then we'd all be dead anyway.

There are lots of guys who say its find to run on a patched tire. I went through a brief period like you did, only with 2 sets of new tires. its definitely frustrating. I plugged on tire and actually did about 1000 miles on it before I decided to replace it. Again.

What kind of tires you running? And where you located it? Seems like you got some super sticky tires there, or you need to stop riding through the construction zones!

Just put fresh Pirelli Angel GTs on, and I friggin' love them. I think I'm just gonna ride it as is. The chunk of rubber is deep in the tread, so it's not like it's going to even touch the ground. Just can't afford another $200 tire right now.

Ride on, there is no reason to worry if its just to the steel wires in a very small area. If you can see the fabric layer then its pooched. To fix a tear to the fabric you need to have a plug put in and a patch on the inside put in. This can be done at any reputable tire shop that can guarantee there work on S rated tires (not a lot of shops will do S rated)

Now do you put your bike in a garage at night? How about where you ride normally? Anyone doing renos or construction? Too many places it could have come from. I picked up a electrical staple (used to hold wiring to the studs and joists in wood homes) on the hiway last year. This happened to be on the way to where the local dump is.

What is it that is puncturing your tires? Is it the same kind of hardware? I am just wondering if it is a certain path you take that a roofer lives on or some sort of thing like that. That is a lot of tire problems for one person for there not to be a reason like that. You don't live next to a nail factory do you?

I started riding on the road in 1981.
For a lot of years I didn't even have a car, and on my VFR750 I covered 56,000k's in one year.
This went on until business and kids took over in 2005.
I've only ever had one puncture in all those years.
What the f#*€k are you doing?

These four punctures have occurred in three different STATES, let alone addresses. I guess I'm just cursed.

I had mine patched at 200 miles an auto shop. Rode it until I needed to replace it, 7k miles later.

So it's not leaking? That's lucky!
After hurricane Katrina with a the demo and reconstruction and stupid high gas prices and one lane roads, I rode my 'busa a lot. I was plugging both tires at least once or more a week. When I finally had them changed, the tire guy said " check this out". The inside of my rear tire looked like it was growing little black carrots. We counted 18! Front had only seven. I always keep a stock of worms on hand. Got where I could plug one in about 3 minutes. Ride it. Don't go over 100 mph.
