My second bike was a new 1985 750 Interceptor. Put 15000 k.m. on it in the first season. One of my favorite bikes, ever! After owning a bunch of bikes in between, I spotted an 85 750 Interceptor with 4500 k.m. on it this summer for $2000.00. The guy said he bought it new in 1985 and rode it for two years before going overseas to work. He said a friend started it once and a while. He put a new battery in it, and had the carbs cleaned, and new fluids put in her. Though it runs, it burns some oil. It has also been dropped on the right side, but is in pretty good shape. It still has the stock tires on it! That helped convince me about the mileage. I couldn't resist and bought it. Now I am going to have to do a leak down test on the engine. I look forward to becoming involved with this fine forum!

If your leak down test is within spec then try this. My experience with engines that sat for a long time is that you most likely have stuck oil rings on the pistons. Usually just running the engine for several rides has gotten them unstuck (after changing the oil before the first running of course). Some of the engines smoked like a rib smoker but eventually cleared up on their own.st keep an eye on the oil level. Good luck and nice find.

I have a magical unicorn named Wally who lives in my backyard but nobody believes me because I never posted any pictures of him.

There she is ! I am believing what motorhead1977 had to say as well. I added some "Rislone" thick oil product, to free stuck rings, and have ridden the bike twice, and it seems to be smoking less. Though it is still quite noticeable. Being as I live in the wilds of the Arctic(almost), I am not doing a lot of riding right now. My main goals are to get it to run properly, and then to work on the cosmetics. It was funny getting this bike, again. I remembered it as being a huge bike, that was very long and heavy. Now it seems quite light and thin. Ahh, memories, not too accurate.
