I would like to see Honda re Introduce the 1988 Honda Super Magna but not mess it up like Yamaha did with the V=Mx.

When they re introduced the V Max they let the transformer toy boys in the design dept. and messed it up. Cheap space hogging aluminum frame horrible headlight etc.,.

Now the Original VMax value with a steel tube frame that was easy to work on,is MUCH more valuable and longer lasting that the aluminum frame.

Felt the same way aboot the V-Max when it came oot but it has grown on me. Maybe the Honda would as well as long as it was not as fugly as the latest offerings.

I can appreciate the V-Max for what it is but I still think it's uglier than Chelsea Clinton. I would rather have a B-King.

The early model Vmaxes were 1197cc and 631lbs. wet.
The new V maxes are 1697cc and 683lbs wet. (With aluminum frame)
    Late model

To me the early model with steel frame nice wheels decent looking headlight and lighter weight was much better than the overblown one Yamaha came up with.

And the root beer brown anodized covers did not help.

it's like judging a beauty pagent where the two contestants are piles of dogshit, there is no winner. i'm surprised donald would even consider a machine that didn't have the air filters visible or where the fork tubes were bigger than the spokes of the wheel. be careful donald, those bikes might have adjustable suspension components....total deal breaker.

Whenever faced with choosing between piles of dogshit, go for the one with the biggest tits. Or the fastest.

I almost looked into buying a Magna from around those years once. When I went to set up a pre-purchase at the most respected Honda shop in Seattle (University Honda, now sadly gone) one of their senior mechanics simply told me not to buy it. "Don't even bring it in" he said. He claimed they were plauged with engine problems. I knew next to nothing about bikes at the time and asked him his advice. While it was years before I realized what sage advice he'd given, I eventually remembered his advice and went "Oh, yeah right on". He said: "First bike? Forget everything and just get a mid 90s Honda VFR. Bullet proof engine, fast, reliable, you'll love it." This makes me think he knew what he was talking about!

I have ridden both gens of V-Max and must say the new one makes the old one appear more like a Vespa in the power department.

They seem like cartoon characters to me. I know that they can put down some serious smack but not in a very versatile package, once again IMHO.

There is alot to be said for a third gear burn oot. Lol, just saying. The new one looks way better in red. No body lines in the black. Never been around a stock bike that gets so many comments from both motorcycle people and those that do not ride.

Oh, yeah !! A bike as fast as a V-Max pushes motorcycle power to seriously dramatic proportions. Kinda like sitting on top of a built small-block Chevy.

It needs to look brutal, cuz that's what it is. Perfect motorcycle for a maniac. It almost shouldn't be legal.
