What am I missing? I purchased new controls yesterday (salvage) to replace mine that were spinning, and they wont tighten down either. When pulling on the choke the whole assembly spins? Is there something I'm missing like a nylon bushing or some gunk painted on the bars? Pleae help, its driving me nutty-er. The clipon appears to be the same diameter as the Right. Thanks all.

When you look at the lower half of the controls, there should be a very short and hardened metal pin sticking up on the clamping area. It fits into a hole in the bottom of the handlebar. If that pin has been removed or isn't fit neatly into the hole in the handlerbar, the controls will spin.

    Jose,
You rock! I saw that hole, but neither my old controls, nor the new ones had the metal bump in them. The new one was there but really ground down, and the old set it was non existent. I went ahead and tapped the old one out after reading your post, and then inserted a metal stepped - aluminum pin. It worked like a charm! Thanks a bunch.

Wow. I didn't realize it was such a common issue.
