    All,

I just rode 1000mi this weekend. Rode from Annapolis, where I live, down to Blacksburg, VA (Virginia Tech) where I went to school. I've never ridden that far in my life. Surprisingly I didn't get any back aches, all I ran into was some knee soreness and actually my forearms/wrists began to hurt as the weekend went on.

Regardless of any physical discomfort, I had a blast riding around with my friends on their different bikes. We did some local Blacksburg roads, then moved on to the Blue Ridge Parkway... But the best was Tuggles Gap, which is right near the Floyd entrance to the BRP. Those twisties were something else. I have never leaned a bike over so far into a turn and grabbed such big handfuls of throttle. I had her wound up to 9-11.5 grand all through those turns. I don't know if I have ever had so much fun on a motorcycle before. My last bike was a 78' kz400, and I had an 86' vf500 briefly which had it's share of problems.

Anyways, loved the bike on those roads, had one hell of an adventure thanks to my Red 98'!

Yah Hoo! And good for you. Another old ass Honda getting it done. The 97 in our corral gets out from time to time but takes more like a month to clock a thousand miles. I want to ride those crooked mountain roads too some time this summer. Be safe when you have your fun.:biggrin-new:

Another good one is 211 that cuts across the mountains & through SkyLine Drive at New Market, VA.

If you want one helluva great road to travel West on try 33 that runs from Gordonsville, VA (near Orange) all the way into West Virginia. About 7 hours of awesomeness! Beautiful scenery & some fantastic switchbacks through the mountains.

Next time you're headed my way, let me know~

Awesome dood. Me and a buddy are heading up to my place in Chimney Rock tomorrow to do some riding this weekend. Although my VFR is my sole vehicle that I ride every day, this will be my first official 'fun' trip of the year. I'll definitely post up some pics on Monday when I get home.

Rt 8 heading south from The Tuggles Gap hotel is a blast, and when you get to the bottom at Woolwine hang a left on rt 40 and ride about 10-15 miles east, that section is a lot of fun too.

There are tons of great roads in the Blacksburg area, I went to school at VT as well and the bike is my excuse to get back there pretty often. If you have time to run a little ways west of Blacksburg out to Tazewell then Rt. 16 from Tazewell down to Marion is 33ish miles of pure awesome :) The local area is promoting it as the "Back Of The Dragon", which is a little cheesy as a knockoff but it is a great ride.
