Good Day! I have recently put up a thread on a 5th gen I built. Its an '05 on paper. But a PGMFI system vfr. I got injured pretty bad in 2014. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury called Diffuse Axonal Injury. I had to learn a lot again...but a lot stayed. Like my mechanical abilities. My cognitive disabilities do hinder that, so I cannot do this professionally. That was my career before the accident. I did race prep. But this bike was my test for myself. I built the entire bike. Not one part came off the factory line with another. I even had to get my licenses back due to having been seizure risk. Now I'm ok. Got my license back in 2019. Been riding the past 3 years on this bike. I don't rack up the miles though. My YouTube channel is; 1000 Word Adventures. Thank you for reading. I love seeing others' vfr's! Always more to learn!

Thank You. The channel has a few rides previous the accident. But no, its mostly about my vfr build now. Mostly to show my friends and co workers in the industry I feel no longer a part of...
I never made a specific video about my accident/injury. I'm not so quick to talk about it. Most don't understand. And everyone is different. You can't SEE my traumatic brain injury. Every one of my deficits, everyone else does too from time to time. You can see me limp though. I walk with a cane. It was a left turner. I was going NB on a 35mph street in pure daylight. They were going SB, and turned left into me no signal no yield, probably never saw me(distracted) and dragged me 77'. What can I say? Wear a helmet? Well, I had on an AGV and still got my TBI. And $400 Astar half calf boots and still obliterated my leg/ankle. Just imagine if I had no gear. I had on jeans, and you can tell by my knees...ATGATT Screenshot_20220623-232338.png Screenshot_20220623-154257.png Screenshot_20221020-201702.png

Yikes! You have enough fasteners in that leg to start your own hardware store.

It's tough to deal with. Imagine filling up your sock with silverware and going about your day...I can feel all of it. Plus the scar tissue pain. It's tough. I actually had an ortho appt today get cancelled cause of this hurricane. I want to ask to get that fibula plate taken out. That's where the most pain is now. Its the size of a butter knife and has 6 screws in it.

Wow! I fractured the left fibula when my Africa Twin bucked me off in the Yukon in June. Tore the meniscus too which is a permanent thing, but getting by. I have no right to complain after seeing this. Can they even remove that plate. Does the bone not start to heal over top of that plate, making it a permanent thing. I don't know. Just asking. Heal up as best you can. Good luck

Such hardware can cause pain and irritation. It possibly can be removed or repaired. I have no problems with what I carry around but some in my family had and had such fixtures removed. It probably also depends on material. Stainless steel integrates differently compared to titanium.
I am no specialist in these matters ... Good luck with that - and welcome to the forum.
