    Hello all.

I've been reading some of the threads and I'm looking to purchase a VFR to add to my stable. Basically, I've mostly been a dual sport rider (currently in the stable is a DR650, KTM LC4-E 640, and a DR350 (mainly for my wife)).

I'm looking for a bike that is better for the highway and for touring. While I love my dual-sports, riding 300 miles on a thumper sometimes feels a little sketchy on the freeway. Everything I've read about the VFR seems to indicate that it's quite comfortable on the open asphalt as well as the smaller US/State highways (Like Highway 2 or 12 in my area).

A little about me - I'm 6' 2" about 280 lbs (I'm a big guy ). I've got a fair amount of riding experience (mostly dirt and DS). I ride pretty conservatively (maybe because I remember a phrase from learning how to fly - "There are old pilots. There are bold pilots. There are no old, bold pilots"). I like to ride the "slower" mountain roads, but enjoy the twisties that come with them.

I'm thinking of looking for a used VFR so that my investment is low in case I decide that this really isn't for me (although I suspect that it is). I've sat on my friends 2007 VFR and the riding position feels fairly comfortable to me.

Is there a model year that would be better than others to look for in the used category? Are there generations that tend to fit the larger rider better? From a used perspective, any particular things to watch out for (like the infamous doohickey on the KLR)?

Anyway - hoping to tap the expertise here.

    Thanks!
