Stopped in a local dealer and discovered they had access to a left over
2007 VFR (dark red), still in crate! It is non-ABS and picking it up for
$7500! Seems like a deal I can not turn down!

My last four bikes have been HD's and prior to those they have all
been Hondas. Had the itch for a bike with some pull, able to handle
the twisties and also take a long trip with. I hope I found it!

    Pics to come soon....

If you have been happy with the HD's, you will be absolutely in love with the VFR. I came from a Honda cruiser myself.

As long as you're not expecting race bike handling and Goldwing comfort, this will fit the bill as it has great handling, but most people on here have no problem with 400 mile days, 600 even.

sure, the vfr is not as efficient in converting gas directly into noise, without the by-product of horsepower... lol
welcome aboard!!! you're going to love your new honda!

Thanks guys! I head down to the Smoky Mountains at least once a year, and I can't wait to ride that area on the VFR! The real test will be a trip from St Louis to Beaver Creek, CO.! I normally ride to Colby, KS, stay the night and then finish the other half. That will be the true test. But I am certain the VFR will be a blast on those mountain roads.

Congrats on your new VFR and welcome to the forum!

Long days are not a problem on this bike. I did 360 mi yesterday over about 10 hours myself, on a variety of 2-lanes, straight, kind of twisty and very twisty!

I have the RWB, but I really like the red too. The VFR is a great all around bike. If that's what you're looking for, then you will love it. Welcome.

Bought my 07 non ABS RWB last September for $9000. Nice deal you got there. I can ride all day on it without any ill effects (did put Helibars and a Sargent seat on it). My fun rides are usually 300 mile days. 200 miles on the shorter day rides. That's how you get 4500 miles gone in one rainy NY riding season.

Well, I returned to the dealer on Friday the 13th (November) and signed the papers AFTER getting the price down to $7100 ! Almost met the number Scubalong stated!

As I said, the bike is in a crate, and they are picking it up on Monday. They said it will be serviced and ready to roll on Wednesday. Now if the rain that is moving into the St Louis area will cooperate and get the hell out of here by then.

Pictures coming as soon as I get it!

Let me know when you're getting ready to come up. I'ld be more than happy to show you some untraveled and non-trafficed local twistie stuff with the added bonuses of scenery and very forgiving cops. It'll make you want to move here. Except of course we are having a November blizzard as I type this post. 10" already.

Thanks, I will take you up on it! My brother-in-law has a great home in Beaver Creek. I use that as my "headquarters" and ride when I am out there. That place, as nice as it is could just as well be a Motel 6!

I have spend DAYS riding that area and covered a couple thousand miles, but I am heading back again for more!

    I will let you know!

    Rex

Here she is, just removed from the crate, serviced and ready to roll. Only had time to stop by and see it before heading in to work. Gonna get it in the morning and will have a couple hours to show her around town. Even though it will be cool, I don't think I will feel a thing. After all, she has been boxed up waiting for this moment!

By the way, you will see something missing........... The rear cowl (spelling). I don't know what gives with this, they said there was not one in the crate, nor on the bike.

I guess for the price I paid, I can buck up and order one. Likely not use it anyway; I tend to roll around town with at least a seat bag.

I know that this is not a huge deal but I would absolutely insist that they provide the rear cowl. It defineatly comes with the bike and I am sure that Honda will happily provide one for you if they did in fact forget to put one in the crate. The dealership knows this and I would like to think that they will get this resolved for you. The fact that the dealer just raises their arms and states "we don't know what you're talking about" is some half assed manuevering. For me it wouldn't be a money issue as much as a principle issue. The money you save not re-buying something that was standard equipment in the first place is enough to purchase a fender eliminator and mod the gearing to a -1 front, or any number of other things you choose.

Apologies for the rant, I just have a big problem with salesmen of any kind playing stupid with the motive of taking advantage of someone, for any dollar amount.

well ya, if he buys a replacement himself, the dealer gets their commission on the part. If the dealer tells Honda they forgot to crate one up, the dealer gets nothing....
