Okay, so I have been hunting for helpful info on lowering my '87 VFR700 and haven't really been able to find anything useful. It could be that my searching skills are lacking. But I would like some info on how to lower my bike and what negative and positive effects I can expect to see as a result. I know how to lower the front by adjusting the clamps, it's the back I don't know about.

I am thinking of lowering the bike to lower the center of gravity to corner a little smoother. Will this do it? I would also enjoy the benefit of being a little more flat footed when stopped.

    thanks a ton!

Lowering this bike is not a good idea.

Get used to the bike by putting on more miles.
A universal truth of motorcycling is this: the more riding you do, the smaller the bike will feel to you.

the rear shock on that VFR is very short and is difficult to lower.

Only 5'41/2" tall, i was also intimidated by the bike's height at first, but grew into it, and as for cornering, the bike is GREAT as is, but you need to know what you're doing, and it willl not corner smoother by lowering.

I can't flat foot both feet, nowhere near, but still feel confident.

If you can't feel comfortable on the VFR, look for a Honda Hawk GT.
