Well I was finally able to get my first ride of the season in today. I got home from work @ 6pm, pulled the old girl out of the garage. Adjusted the chain, checked & topped off tire pressure quick run down to the gas station to fill her up & check brake operation & general feel which was great. Returned home lubed the chain, installed the new Nelson Rigg soft sided luggage(very easy install & decent fit, some interference w/ the signals but those have to go anyway). Quick run in the house wipe down the helmet, clean the safety glasses changed clothes threw on the new Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 jacket, put on the new Red Wing Harness boots( fat feet can't fit into those sexy boots like some of you have) Donned the helmet & the gauntlets grab my gym stuff & sweatshirt loaded up the bags & headed out.
She feels good, I'm a little stiff; we head north out of town a couple big sweepers & we're on straight as an arrow farm coutry roads. Boring yes but a good way to get used her again, its been a long time. The first thing thats hits me is the fresh aroma of liquified manure being spread over the feilds, 30 degrees warmer & I would have vommited in my helmet:puke: . But today in the high 40's I drank it in & it awakenend my senses bringing back all the reasons I love to ride. 6 miles turn east go straight over rolling hills for another 30 miles. Got into the next town, took some slow lazy curvy roads around by the hospital & a little old lady in a teal Escort tried to kill me twice. Drop two gears & let the Kerker bark made it block & a little old man tried to run me over w/ a Lincoln. Finally made it to the gym walked in was told they close in 20 mins, oh well no swimming laps today, found the wife & kids who had been swimming. Back on the viffer, off to Mickey D's for a family feast, its been months & months since I'd graced the golden arches w/ my presence. Double 1/4 pounder w/ cheese the holy grail of greasy fast food delishiousness. Tasted great, then I flipped the box over(first time ever) & read the little label that tells you how bad these really are for you & almost fell out of my chair( they are really, really bad for you). Its dark now & in the low 40's upper 30's put the sweat shirt on & off I go for an uneventful ride home dodging dead deer, live deer, dead cats, possums etc. All in all it was great to be out in the wind again, the old knee's where a wee bit cold but not bad. The new gear worked great & now that I've ridden her that paint job just may have to wait until late fall:whoo: :biggrin1:

While the riding season in my neck of the woods is impressively long, the non-riding season feels longer. So I can at least sort of identify with the pleasure of getting out on the VFR again. My wife (GIB = Gal In Back) was also surprised how quickly the farm aroma assaults the senses! It's gonna be a great riding season!

But why eat scottish? You stayed away from the forbidden arches for so long, you almost had it beat. :cheer2: I know where you can get some therapy for that... :twitch:
