Picked up this one along with a welding machine for $400: 1970 Honda CL350 Scrambler Of course the GPS didn't come with the bike. 37 some year old bike, still starts on the first kick.
..............i usta have a 1971 CB 350,,,got it in Japan when i was in the navy....i think it was a tad under $500.00.(navy exchange)...of course it came back on the ship 4 free....i had that for a very long time..it finally wore out...and i gave it to a friend to canibalize...the carbs were cleaned and transplanted..so..i guess its still ....ALIVE??
The exhaust isn't even chopped up on it(popular mod on the scramblers & dreams) that is a hell of a find. The owner of one the company's I work with is restoring two 305's that he paid several thousand $$'s for.
It took me a few hours to clean it up and get the bike running, but it seems like it's running out of fuel at higher rpm. After it warmed up, I took it on a 30 mile ride; stopped at couple of traffic lights after sustained high rpm, the engine seems to smoke a little, I guess I might need to open it up and inspect the rings on the cylinders. At least it starts and runs for now, people give me thumb-up when I cruise around the neighborhood.
If it hasn't been run for a while it could just be junk built up that's burning off. I bet the carbs could use a good cleaning to.
Why is it that the inexpensive, little bikes always seem so cool? I wish I kept my old '89 CB-1, I'll probably feel the same way about it in another 10 years.
wow great score!! you picked up a vintage classic for a bargain!!! the bike may just need a long run to re seat the rings if its been sitting for a while
Bike Than you for replying to my post and the information about the windshield is what I was looking for. I don't know if I mentioned that I have a Staintoon and the sound is something unique and power is great, Do use K&N air filters on your bikes? Your bike is sweet, looks like it's been sitting in a barn for a while. You probably only had to put on new rubber and clean the carb and you can throw your 24 on the back rack.
