I'm looking for help in Rapid City South Dakota. My daughter is driving home to Ohio from Portland OR. She hit a deer about 70 miles west of Rapid City. We thought the car was ok. turned out later down the road some steam is coming out. She is getting the car towed to a friends place she is going to in Rapid City.

Is there anybody from the site that lives in Rapid City that could take a look at the car for me? Please PM me if you can. I'd appreciate any help anybody could give. Thanks

Just got an update on the situation. The car is in Spearfish at a local body shop. Daughter made it to Rapid City, about 40 miles away. I talked to the body shop owner and he thinks he can get it patched up enough and properly to get her back on the road sometime midweek. Hopefully he is as standup as he sounds. Thanks for the thoughts of help. She's in good spirits now. She was on I90 doing about 70mph when she hit this deer dead center and it bounced off the grill, hood and windshield. Didn't break the windshield though. The hood took most of the hit. I think she was lucky in that respect. This is her first cross country trip by herself. The joys of an adventure. haha Thanks again.

Very fortunate the deer didn't come through the windshield. That would have been serious stuff right there. I hope this guy who is patching her car up does not take you for a ride. I am sure things will be fine. There are more good people out there than bad. We just have the tendency to focus and talk more about the assholes of the world and forget the good guys. You daughter OK?

Randy your absolutely right. I have a funny feeling the deer was still in jump mode and was higher in the air than just standing. The shop owner said it looked like the deer sat on the hood. I think when she hit it, she just punted it over the car (04 Honda Civic). The guy said: it hit her dead center but only damaged the grill and hood, outside that is and took the top of the radiator area. She was doing 70 she said. Scaret the shit out of her!! She's ok with it now but was a little shaken that day. She's still making the best out of her trip home. I should know more Mon or Tues.

Thanks all for the well wishes.

nailed a deer doing 55 with my '02 Honda civic. scooped it up off the road. It flipped 180deg in the air and hit the top of the windshield with it's feet straight up toward the sky. I laughed my ass off and wished I could have been the guy in the car behind me to witness the whole thing. Who knows how high it sailed thru the air after the hot on the windshield. No damage to the car.

Tink she said she saw blood and guts on the windsheild. She has two bikes on a rack in back. One she said there was blood on the seat. uuuu ick!

Ok here's the deal so far. The car couldn't be "Macgyver'd" to get her home. She flew home yesterday. I'm flying out next Thurs to SD to get the car. It's supposed to be done by Wed. So it's road trip time. The people from the body shop are going to drive forty miles from Spearfish to pick me up at the Rapid City airport. I think that's cool. I get to inspect the car to make sure everything was done right vs my daughter doing that, um yea right. I hope it will basically be an uneventful trip home. Like not hitting anymore bambi's. Or anything for that matter.

Anybody live along rt90 up to rt 35s or rt 80 from rt35east want to give me their ph num just encase I need help? Ummm didn't think so.........................
