I'm shocked at the lack of response on this in both threads.
Is it true that the VFR community is so numb to "new VFR" news that now that Honda is offering up official stuff nobody cares?

Okay, that was a little dramatic.

I watched the video, which is all the site has to offer besides the win a test drive thing, and I think it sucked.
How to say nothing in several minutes.

Because it isn't new, I signed up after a Survey to that useless site for updates more than 6 months ago so far the emails and site updates have been utter rubbish or misleading.

and some of those long tube styrofoam things like you use to float with, in case I want to go to the lake.

    And some spinnerbaits

That should do it, yep, that would be about all I would need.

I'm not even sure if this is going to be the new VFR. It could also be the new Pan European which houses a VFour as well

I agree that after watching the video of T. Plaza expounding on
his philosophy of motorcycle design, I was a bit bewildered as
to what he was actually trying to say. My immediate response
to Signore Plaza's transcendental design philopsphy is this:

Honda does not need to reinvent the motorcycle.

Why not take the tried and proven VFR you already have and make
bold improvements to both the V4 engine and chasis? Many people,
myself included, have said for years that Honda desperately needed
to increase VFR displacement (i.e. torque) to 1000cc, abandon all
unnecessary complexities like V-tec / LBS, and return to gear-driven
cams (not that there's anything wrong with chain-driven cams, they're
used almost universally) but I've always considered the intoxicating
whine of square-cut gear-driven cams an integral part of VFR mystique.

I figure if I whine enough about stuff they could strap on this new bike, (that nobody here has seen, heard or ridden) The Honda Gods will answer my prayers.

LOL! A friend of mine's little bro does work for Honda styling.. Any special requests? A four slice toaster, a plasma TV, training wheels?

Super flat 230 RWHP/190 RWFt.-lb. torque power curve (enough torque to outhual two Ducs), 400 dry/450 wet lbs weight, as comfortable to ride long distance as a Connie (for rider and pillion), as stable as a work bench on the freeway, yet able to carve canyon curves like a Gixxer. As simple to work on as my old CR125R Elsinore (aircooled), with an active aftermarket/racing program to promote more custom/go fast/comfort parts than the Gixxer/'Busa market's combined.

    That asking too much?

you know Vlad, you called that comment "a little dramatic", but when ya get down to it, i really think that's the case. over the years, the VFR's (and ST1100's, ST1300's, RC212V, and other bikes) have really gathered what anybody could consider a cult following. after they tweaked their V4 motors in 1986 and fixed some of the really common problems in their V4's, honda had found they'd really hit the nail on the head with that motor configuration, and here we are decades later with V4's still in production. Naturally, over the years, many of us develop the inherent desire for bigger, better, faster, sharper corner carving, or more comfortable...........well you get the idea...whatever it is that has caused us to fall in love with our bikes, we tend to want more of. Then you have tabloid sites like MCN who dangle the very worm that epitomizes our hearts desire right under our noses, only for us to find time and again that the worm is, as usual, a figment of somebodys overactive imagination (yes, often our own). so bottom line Vlad, yes, we HAVE been taunted so many times we have become numb to the announcement of a new, more awesome V4 machine that might actually spark that one fire in our hearts that made us run so fast when we were 10 years old seeing the ice cream truck coming up our street. its just difficult to get that excited about something that has let us down so many times in the past.

that having been said, let something new show up on a dealership showroom floor, and youll have guys from the 20 yr old to the 60 yr old range sprinting like the ice cream truck is only 2 doors down and about to pass us by. but until then, pipe dreams are just that, pipe dreams. reality will set in only when things get real.

I have pretty much lost all hope. I am not going to believe in a Seventh Generation VFR until I see it.

Sorry if I don't seem too excited. But rumors about this bike have been going on for WAY too long.......

Well said, Chris. I'm a Blackbird and VFR owner and a member of the cbr1100xx.org, vfrworld, and VFRD forums. The sentiments you expressed are felt not only by VFR owners but Blackbird owners as well. These two bikes couldn't be more different yet their intended purpose is identical: to cover long distances at high speed in safety and comfort. I love both bikes. For years both Blackbird and VFR owners have hoped, pleaded, and prayed for Honda to open its eyes and offer a legitimate and vastly improved replacement to the VFR / Blackbird and for years rumors and speculation have run rampant. You summed it up best with "reality will set in only when things get real." I just wish Honda would hurry up because at age 66 I ain't gettin' any younger!

You're lucky you got to see a video. All I got was this black rectangle with an X bottom right. Possibly my broadband isn't broad enough (this being Africa) but if the concept images are anything to go by then..... yuch!! Hmmm, I hear Triumph are about to release a new ST. Hang-on that can't be true, they don't have a Honda to clone it from. Well, Ducati are on the up-n-up. Maybe a new ST4??? Anyone out there care to satisfy the sport-touring market?
