New owner, flashing gear # -dct model

Hi everyone. I just today purchased a 2010 vfr1200f dct with 16,000 miles on the clock. It was 2 hours away. I rode it home and it performed flawlessly. I noticed the gear indicator numbers were constantly flashing all the way home, no matter what the gear reading, and in both manual mode and automatic. It still seemed to run and shift just fine. I also have a '14 ctx700 in dct (which lead me to buy another dct) and it doesn't flash. Is this normal on this model or is it warning me of an error? I hope I don't have to put money in to my new purchase already.
