Looks like you got a lot of work ahead of you. Nice project though. Did you buy that from Garwood or was the decal just there when you bought it?

Decal was there, it wont be soon.

I think thats where the paint job was done or something. I checked and Garwood specializes in custom bikes

The PO should be strung up for treating such a fine bike in such a poor manner. Work your magic, Ghost!

I found this thread by doing a search for threads started by ghost so I could see when the last time he was on was. Seriosly. Glad to see you back.

Nice projecto cant wait to see it made into a fine machine again.

I have been discrouraged from using keychains as they scratch the hell out of everything as you lean from side to side. I only use one bare key and thats it.

Sweet avatar jev. "I'm not a pimp!" - Cosmo.

Welcome back ghost, I will follow this thread.

    Hey all.

Yeah, sorry not posting in what? forever? heh. My wife and I had another baby. Been awfully busy chasing around this little two wheeler and changing his "oil" for a bit.

Needless to say, I do check in from time to time.

So, heres the update. Bikes GONE.

Fixed it up, rode it maybe 50 mile, then needed to give it up. I did. And the guys brother, which I sold it to, is selling it again now... for $1800.

    /facepalm

A lot of work went into this bike... heres what I did.

    Purchased all missing plastic.
Clutch rebuild kit. Custom clutch rod length for fast grabs, and shortened springs by 0.025"
    New wrists.
New fuel level float, cleaned switch.
    New rear fender.
Repaired some plastic, yet several pieces were replaced. (side flat black covers, are now silver)
Fully gutted and re-ran ALL new wiring, including removing the stock connectors, and replacing everything with either TE/Tyco/Molex/AMP connectors with Nuvasil packed in the bottom of each male plug housing.
    New Exhaust hangers welded on
    New chain and sprockets
    Fork Job.
37 missing bolts and 22 missing nuts
New seat (I got this at a steal for $40!!)
Chrome repair (Not my best work, but looks good at 60+MPH)
    Radiator brackets removed and replaced.
    Lube job.
    New battery
Repaint frame and stays, then did a $200 paint job on the body (actually it was free, because I did it for trade helping build a deck... I have pictures of the deck too. *wink*)
New Stator and Clutch basket covers.

I was trying to save the cowl windshield stays, however it was like pissing in the ocean. Replaced the front cowl and windshield. (I hate the new one, because it was the wrong one that I ordered, I got a credit for it, and didn't mail back in the one sent to me... the service rep said "ah, just keep it, we don't really want it back")

Anyway, here's the bike now. PS, dont make fun of my terrible attempt at the "XX" on the paint and seat.

Hey Scuba / Pliskin / Crusty. Yeah, Im slowly coming back into the light of the day, and getting either a throttle or a wrench in my hands.

Indeed, the bike sold. The guys brother eventually sold it for ... hang on... $1,300 cash. Signed the title over, and evidently the guy who purchased it drove it home... didnt even trailer the new bike without knowing it. (thats dangerous folks).

I should also mention that last year I was on the receiving end of a highway hit and run while riding. (but thats for another thread, and not to hijack this one. Hmm.. perhaps ill post a thread about it.)

I just got off the phone with Brett (the guy who I sold it to)... oh, BTW, Ghost is no dummy. I bought the bike for $2,000. Put $720 worth of parts, labor, paint, bolts, chain, sprockets, etc into it... Sold it for $4500.

Brett gave it to his older brother as a birthday present. (so the story goes). Older brother was being deployed... sold it to some nobody guy for $1300 cash.

If I find another one, I'll let you know. Right now, Im hedging about getting another project bike.
