    I just picked up a 2004 VFR.
I got this wonderful owners manual that does not even give me an oil filter number.
Anyone have a K&N oil filter number?
    I also have a ST1300 so I love V4's.

Should be same as your ST. Check the search function. This has been done to death on this site.

Get the oem at the local shop or purolator. Some use WIX or K&N.

I wish I could find purolator after all I've read, but I usually end up getting the K&n. I like that it has the nut on it for easy take off.

Download a service manual for your 2004. Owners manuals are for sticking in a drawer somewhere.

No sales pitch here but I put one of these on my 91 about ten years ago. No problems ever. I got tired of getting hosed buying Honda filters and hearing about failures with other brands.

A little pricey at first but after about 7-8 oil changes it's paid for.

I ran Golden Spectro for years and switched to Rotella T. about three years ago..

I was really interested in this idea until I scrolled down to the price. Yowsa! $139 is a little steep for this buckaroo. That's more like 14 oil changes for most of the filters I buy. Looks like a good product, though.

I was buying "genuine" Honda filters six at at time online. The local dealer/stealer (now OOB) was getting as I recall about twelve a pop for same. Some of the more standard filters are made offshore and all it takes is one bad one to crater an engine.

Also, the one's from Scott's are really purty, and they toss in a strap wrench too..;)

Nothing to collapse or be affected by heat. Even the seal is steel. I wash mine with a 50-50 mix of that generic degreaser and water I get from Wallys. Same deal on the Rotella. 3-4 oil changes and ya got enough left over in the big jugs for another oil change.

The other part of the rip was the price of Golden Spectro..Good stuff but not at nearly nine bucks a quart and that was the last time I looked.

I've used $5 Fram motorcycle filters for about 15 years on a V4 Sabre, and for 3 years now on my '04 VFR. It's 6606, or 6066, and it's the same as my wife's Mazda Miata. Seriously. You hear horror stories of cheap filters failing, I'm betting that's in hard-use or racing applications.

I know some dudes who just stuff old Greatful Dead tie dye Tshirts into the hole and they work great!

I think the new one's at Walmart are about two bucks each in the after Halloween sales if you get the one's that are regular sizes.

I knew I could find a use for those T-shirts.
