Hi troy. Welcome to the group. I went to sumofallparts.net and ordered their 520 conversion kit for my 93 VFR. It is a chain and sprocket set that converts to a 520 chain from the OEM 530. The brand of Chain was an RK chain, XSO I think. I went up from 43 teeth on the rear to 45 teeth. I eventually ordered a 15 tooth front, which is -1 from stock on mine. I like the change of +2 on the rear and the addition on -1 to the front made for mad accelleration, but cruising revs were higher than I cared for. Prices from sumofallparts was better than going to the stealership, too. The crew at sumofallparts was very helpful and friendly when I called them. I also had no problems with how the sprockets fit either.
hey vinny thanks for the input! i think im having trouble with the rear sprocket due to the fact its got a single swing arm so i assume (you know what that leads to!) options are limited! does changing to a 520 allow for more options?
Not sure what you mean by options. If you mean by number of teeth, then I think sum of all parts canhelp you out. I think they have options as few as 13 teeth up front and not sure how many out back. The 520 chain is a little lighter than the 530 chain. I also use the clip link as I didn't have the extra money for a link press and riveter and the clip link has held up to al the abuse I have given it. I had no problems with the set I got from sum of all parts and the sprockets fit great. I almost got a little worried when I first got them because the front sprocket didnt look like it would fit as it looked like the slpines were a little different, but it went on fine.
