Hello everyone, I have an 86 VFR750 than will not flow fuel from the tank. Petcock and lines are new. Is there some way to clean the tank internally? I have to think there is a clog of some sort. It's flows enough to allow the motor to idle and run but not ride.

Are there bungs in the fuel tap?
Shine a torch into tank and have a look for debris.

I am going to take the tank off and search for debris. The lines do not appear to be kinked in anyway. There are no
extra bungs. Just the fuel pipe and where the fuel level sensor is.

If the 86 tank is snything like the 83, there long convoluted pipes inside the tank. You might have to try fish a wire to clear junk.

Your right, it does have that in the tank. There has to be some sort of junk in one those tubes. How exactly
does that work anyway. I cant figure out how the petcock really works. Thanks

If you take the petcock apart you should see three holes, one is the pick-up, one is the main feed and the third is the reserve, You can try to clean them out from there.

use compressed air to blow into the tank through the fuel line with petcock set on reserve AND on.

i've owned VFRs since 1990 and have not yet figured out why the tank sometimes refuses to flow fuel out, but it does happen occaSionally.

Used everyone's suggestions, thank you by the way. I have flow now but it still runs poorly. This thing has an
automotive style fuel pump. Does anyone know the correct fuel pressure? This one is 5.5 to 9 psi. I believe the OE fuel
pump is around 4 psi. It seems to be running to rich with a poor idle.

I think the original pump is 2.5 psi or 4 or somewhere in between. 5.5 psi might be OK, but I think 8 or 9 is definitely too much. I guess if it is pushing fuel past the float valve, it could make it rich & rough. The go-to pump for the Magnas and Sabres was always the 1983 Civic pump.
