O.K. Need some input

I sold my 90 VFR 750 last year and I am kicking myself ,sooooo Looking at a bigger bike and more power...

I looked at a 1990 CBR 1000F today , its a Honda and it reminds me of my VFR, it needs some work , mostly cosmetic,,
The reason for this post is looking for any info on bike, anyone here ever have one??? issues ,,problems????
I started looking for info on the CBR site, but I still have my loyalty to the VFR World...

 

Big bike, bullit proof motor but lacks the character of the VFR. Probably a good long haul sport tour mount but it is more portly so it may not be as much fun in the twisties. Ride it and you will know right away if it makes sense for you.

 

Well ,,,I will be using it primarily for commuting to work, I can see that it is not going to be as nimble as the VFR, that is something I will miss, I havent heard of anything that is problematic with them,,,just getting input, Always nervous when buying something,,,

 

I like how the 1000F looks too but it's hard to find a nice example anymore. I have not ridden one but hear they are fast and smooth if a bit heavy (not unlike VFR). I seem to recall cam chain tensioner problems...I'd do some research. Good luck.

 

I had a CBR 1000f. Black and silver. It had built in frame sliders under the fairings. Comfortable, super smooth and sneaky fast. You will be going 90 without even thinking about it. The first bike I ever did 140 on (easy). Would be a good sporttour except its top heavy and slow to turn in. I believe the Super Blackbird took its place. Problem is it is a bit soul-less or not much soul. Not a bike you fall in love with. The VFR V4 has much more character in my mho, sounds better and much better looking.

 

why not just try to find another VFR? I too would be looking for the Blackbird (1100XX). The sportbikes of that era are more rider friendly than the ones of today, so I can see why you would want to go with something older, as well as price, but keep in mind about availability of parts as well. I thought it was hard to find things for my VFR, could not imagine trying to find anything for a bike where they were not made that few years.

 

Why not try to find a newer cbr you can pick up a liter bike for cheap the way the economy is right now.

 

Those old 1000Fs aren't very good. If you own one getting rid of it is the best part. Find something else.
