Detected a small oil leak today but I don't what to call the area where the leak is happening. It's located above the oil filter and appears to be a seal or plug with a covered tube or wire coming out. It comes out to a round elbow and then goes straight up. The plug is maybe 1/2" in diameter and the tube is maybe 1/4" diameter. It drips on one of the headers. What the heck is that thing?

Sounds like you’re talking about the oil cooler, maybe take a picture and post it up.

Oil cooler lines have an O-ring on the fittings, so maybe your needs replacement. resist the mistaken desire to just tighten the bolts.

ez job except for tight access.

Turns out it's seepage from the seal around the stator wire. Will either replace the grommet or just RTV it and see how it holds.
    Thx,,,,

RTV should do it, that’s what they use from the factory or perhaps it’s Honda Bond. I accidentally messed up the gasket when I replaced my stator and rather than wait for a new one to arrive, I just used Honda Bond. That’s what is used on the oil pan and that never seems to have any issues. May want to inspect that Stator while you’re at it, they have a tendency to cook themselve, at least the part that isn’t bathed in oil.
