Hey guys. Newbie here. Just picked up a 5th gen and was looking for some advice. Went to ride today and after about 20 miles the bike basically stopped moving. how often do these things go thru chains? I checked it at the first gas station I could get it to and it felt stupid loose to me. But ive also never had a chain driven bike either. Any thoughts would be appreciated

You'd be surprised how many times I ran out when I first got my 05. After having a CBR with a separate "reserve" tank, it took me a few times to remember the VFR does not.

I'd suggest checking the chain every time you fill up. I'm pretty sure the book says adjust it every 500 depending on how you ride

Yeah. It started after I put gas in it. And I checked the chain before I went out and it seemed ok. But after the bike started actin up it was real loose. Again I dont really know that much about it but it was ok for the first 20 miles. Then it got all sorts of crazy. Any ideas?

Sounds like the pinch bolt might not be tight.
