My 96 VFR 750 has lost @ least 40% of it's horsepower. Sometimes it will kick in and zoom like it's supposed to but sputter when it does..............Any Ideas on what to do to get her feelin right again?

This one is almost easy: inspect your sparking plugs to locate the problem area/s cuz one or two cylinders are not firing (blackish) due to an electrical problem, most likely.

FIRST thing and easiest, cheapest thing to try EVERY TIME there's a running problem is to inspect or replace sparking plugs. Invisible deposits can form that impede firing and therefore combustion. Combustion, although adding to atmospheric pollution and global warming, also powers our motorcycles and promotes transportation.

Just one cylinder not firing will drag down the power.

Post up here after you locate the black or china-white plugs that don't have a lovely tan color.

Photo at left shows proper electrical supply and proper fuel mixture colour ( sorry i'm an anglophile !) ......Cadbury Light Milk Chocolate, so delish !!

I am with Squirrel, sounds like one cylinder. Could be as simple as a spark plug boot not seated correctly or just sitting in the hole. Done that one myself in the past and got a similair result.
