PGM-FI swap

    Does anyone know if you can swap a 1999 PGM-FI unit with a 2000 for better mileage ?
    Part numbers are different and maybe the 2000 model works together with lambda's ?
    My 1999 model (European) has no emission controls installed.

    My recollection from a post a while back is that the two are not compatible. Although I believe you can swap for different regions, I.e. use a US Spec ECU but only if the EU bike doesn’t have the HISS system.

    There was one member here was trying to “unleash” the power of his 5 Gen and went to great lengths to acquire an ECU from a German Spec bike, although the post was chastised for other reason, the guy did end up finding and installing the German ECU. According to him, it did wonders for him...
