The area where the 6TH Gen's sub-frame is exposed on both sides has lost its paint and began to rust. I believe I've seen this on a couple of bikes. There are also places on the sub-frame under the seat, particularly weld joints, that have surface rust.

Is this a good candidate for poweder coating or just a good prep and paint?

Is this caused by leg abrasions during riding?

After the paint or powder coat, would covering that area with a vinyl wrap or even some carbon fiber be a cool aesthetic touch as well as stopping that abrasion in its tracks?

Just did a quickie Google search and this YouTube video sparked my interest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc7IK9lXBIE

After that viewing of the video, I checked eBay for some carbon fiber fabric and tubing. Seems pretty doable. I have a carbon fiber protector for the clutch cover and plan on one for the gas tank. The clutch cover is like the one listed at Thurn's. The tank protector is one of those largish deals found on eBay. Maybe a carbon fiber hugger from Thurn to match the chain protector (but it is quite $$ even w/o S&H)?

    What are your thoughts Vifferees?

    Has it been done?

I believe that the black is so that it blends well with the seat...

Oh yeah why is it Viffer and not Veffer or Veefer like Reefer?
