Not that anyone would exceed the speed limit. But I was wodering if anyone has tested any good anti-radar devices like the Phaser or has looked into the best approach to combat this problem. I was also looking for suggestions on how to mount a unit on a VFR? Thanks

    Hey Dan,

I will admit I do not know squat about radar detectors, don't really need them as I keep a close eye on my speed anyway.

However in mounting, I saw one guy who mounted it to the top of his windshield but most of the time on some type of post that clamps on the handlebar or mounts.

The Phazer or any other product from Rocky Mountain Radar are absolute JUNK. The jammers DO NOT work. this has been covered on many of the cager magazines. I use a Escort 8500 in my BMW car. It would lend itself nicely to mounting on a VFR. It also has a earphone plug in so you can hear the warning signal. I will post next month or so after I get it mounted and tested.

I just installed a ValentineV1 on mine after seeing a friend's save our butts! Their expensive, but worth it IMO.

BTW, Mine is mounted directly to my 'Double Bubble' windscreen. Hardwired to the battery.
I have the earpiece adaptor mounted on top of the right side of fairing (on the grey plastic, not on the fairing itself), just below the right handlebar.

:-[ Honestly, I had a friend install it for me so I wouldn't be good at describing how to do it.

    Just wanted to update...

My V1 finally has begun to payoff. Up to this point, I hadn't felt that it was a wise purchase because I never had it do it's 'thing'...

Well, this past weekend it saved my butt TWICE while I was up riding in 'twisties' above L.A.

Both times it alerted me well before I came upon CHP's lurking several turns ahead.

    Thank you Valentine!

The V1 is the best!!!! I bought one this past feb and it is worth every dollar! My co-worker had one for years and finally after getting pulled over three times in 6 month I said the heck with it and spent the money. I now I have a 91 VFR750 and just tonight found my self getting the thing up to 105 mph. So the next step is to mount the V1.

I put an 8500 in my tank bag and patch the audio into earphones along with the MP3 player. It comes through loud and clear. In the tankbag it picks up all radar but not laser. IMHO, detectors are of little use against laser anyway - if it hits you you're got, unlike radar where you can pick it up from far away or when the "instant on" lights up the rider or cager ahead of you.

PS. In the bag its not sitting there pissing off the LEO if you do get stopped. They hate radar detectors and, around here, give you little slack if you've got one on display.

While it's true that 'laser' radar is difficult to pick-up, I've had V1 pick it up when the laser was used on a vehicle that was ahead of me...The V1 one even makes a 'special' tone to warn of laser radar.
