One of my rear bulbs has gone on the rear of the 5th gen; it's the one that is a combined brake and rear light. The brake bit lights up, but the rear light doesn't. Could someone tell me which bulb type to get please, since I'm working away this week (and the bike is at home) and need to get a bulb for a ride first thing Saturday morning before the motor shops open!. Many thanks

Not a bad idea. Are they a straightforward 'plug and play' replacement? i.e. no other changes needed - just plug in the bulbs? Thx

For the running and brake light, you should be good with just popping in an LED. For your signal lights, you may need resistors to slow the flash rate. I changed mine over to LED a few years back and have never looked back.

Yeah, they are strictly "plug and play". The LED bulbs fit right into the OEM sockets. And they are BRIGHT. I put one in with the stock bulb to compare, and WOW.

Thanks guys. I've heard of reliability problems with some LEDs so will order the ones FJ12ridertoo recommended (from the US). Are there any other brands/sellers which people have found reliable? In the meantime, I'll buy a standard one to get me through on Saturday.. I'm doing a rider training day with Cambridgeshire Police on Saturday morning and having a tail light out isn't going to please them!

I just bought mine through the autoparts store. You want to be sure the bulbs you get are multi directional. May not seem to be a big deal but if the LEDs are just facing backwards, you don't get the visibility from the sides. There are both types of bulbs.
