Hey Guys/Gals... First post here. New VFR800 owner (6th gen, 2002). I just picked up the bike...basically stock...I have since added some Leo pipes I picked up for a good price and de-snorkled the airbox. I have a technical question for anyone in the know... I have a Penske left on the shelf from my previous ride, a modded '99 SV650. The Penske is 13.5" eye-to-clevis and my understanding is that the stock VFR Showa is 12.5" eye-to-eye. I'm pretty sure I can get the length down with an eye end swap to about 13". What kind of shock length are guys running on the VFR's? Note: The SV Penske was 3/4" longer than stock (also holds true for the GSXR shocks that some guys ran I believe). Also, what kind of spring rate do you guys like...I am 225# street/twisties only with this bike. Traxxion seems to list 1300#! (I'm not sure what the motion rate is on a VFR). Current spring is a 650#'r and will need to be swapped. I may try a simple eybolt and spring swap before ponying up for traxxion (or...who?) to rebuild/revalve. Should I pick up a used 929/954 spring or order a hyperco/eibach in xxx#'s...??? Thoughts/Suggestions...??? TIA Mark in St. Louis
