    HI,

I bought 1996 VFR with stock rims which were dipped in chrome (so, I cannot figure out if they are 5" or 5.5"). The current (and with very big flat spot) rear tire 180/55 size.

I have decided to buy Metzler M-1 new tires, but cannot decide on the size of the rear one. Should I go with 170/60 (stock size) or with the better handling 180/55 but not stock one. The current one, besides not being safe in cornering) feel fine.

    Anybody has an opinion ?

    Thank you,
    Martina

Bike was made for a 170 and will handle better with the 170 go back to stock. Stepping up in tire size almost always results in a handling loss. I had the M-1s on my VFR and loved them just don't wear very well.
