I'm looking for a competent VFR mechanic, as well as a good tire shop, in the Portland Oregon area and would appreciate any recommendations. I'm willing to travel within Northern Oregon/ Southern Washington if necessary.

I purchased a 1998 VFR, my first, last year and quickly fell victim to the apparently common voltage regulator and associated wiring gremlins, so the bike sat until I got around to fixing it this spring. Having ridden it for a couple months now, I understand what all the fuss is about - fantastic bike; but I want a good mechanic, which I'm not, to go over it carefully. I have a track school scheduled for October, so I'm now motivated to get this done soon.

The only feedback on service facilities I have received from a couple of local riders I know has been to avoid the two closest Honda dealers. This could be unfair or due to non-representative one-off bad experiences - impossible for me to judge; but my historical experience has encouraged me to generally avoid dealerships for service work. I'd ideally like to find a good independent who knows VFRs but I don't need a race shop.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
