I'm old and have stock exhaust. I can't hear it. I've been well into the red a few times. How hard is it to install a rev limiter on a 800?

6th Gen has a rev limited already? Was it removed? Or is this for your '84?

Above around 10K rpm, you're just spinning the engine and not really making more power. The best rev limiter is your right hand.

    It's the 6th gen Jeff.

I've always gone by ear. Really rather not take it up over readline.

Yeah Ducc, it sounds like a sewing machine. I like it that way, except for the lack of sensory input.

Just got back from a ride on Angelica. Time to exercise the '84.

could be wrong, but i believe that every Honda has a rev limiter built into its black box circuitry.

Your rev limiter doesn't kick in until about 500rpm over red line. The motor can take it with no problem. They just don't want you going way over. I've hit the rev limiter on my bird about 4 times already in my current trip. Red line is 10800 and the rev limiter kicks in around 11300. No big deal except your spark cuts out.
