A couple of questions from a potential BMW GS convert: 1) At what rpm is the engine turning at 85-90 mph freeway cruising speed? Or along the same line, in 6th gear at what SPEED does the 7000rpm vtec kick in?
    2) Can a person make a slow U turn within the bounds of the average 2 lane road or neighborhood street with feet on the pegs safely? (fairly easy on the GS, impossible for me on a Ducati Supersport)

    Thansk in advance.

I'm seeing about 6000 RPM at 80 on my '98 VFR, so go from there. However, I do believe the speedo is about 10% off. The only issue I have on mine at low speeds is the clutch engagement point. But you will get used to it. Unlike the Duck, the VFR has almost unlimited steering head movement.

I have a 2003 and am turning 5200 rpm at 80 mph. The turning is no problem once you get used to the bike.

6th gear at 6000 rpm = 90 mph. blasting through 100mph comes quickly right after that.

    turning radius is pretty good.

On my 02 the Vtec Kicks in at 106-107mph in 6th gear. Awesome machine, enjoy it. I do.
