So I'm working on a charging issue and my stator is bad but as I look over the wiring (VFRness installed) is see this small relay which powers a pin going into the RR. Problem is that one of my RRs has a wire for that pin and the other doesn't! I'm thinking that this is a bit strange but I don't had a wiring diagram to consult. Here is the RR connector with the pin, And here is the one that was installed that doesn't have the pin. Any thoughts?? And here are the two RRs I have. Neither has a part number that would help me identify their origin. The one on the left was supposed to be an R1 unit according to the PO but it looks to me like a Ricks as seen here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ricks-Motor...Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0c3ba528&vxp=mtr The one on the right appears to be an OEM unit. It's the OEM unit that has the extra wire and pin.
I think the green wire on the OEM one is what goes to the extra pin. I believe its a monitor wire and you can leave it unconnected with the R/R on the left. I think that one is tied into the positive side internally on the aftermarket one. Hope someone will soon confirm it right or wrong. Does the wire harness on the bike have that extra pin? If so you can just plug it in and it should work.
Yes the VFRness has a separate relay to power this extra pin which doesn't exist on the Ricks RR unit. Not sure if the stock harness has this powered but it probably does.
