Hi, I have two of these bikes because the first one I've had since 1989 was in an aircraft hangar that caught on fire. I was just in the process of getting it cleaned up with some new panels and other parts in about 1995 when somebody's RV caught on fire in an adjacent compartment and the heat melted a lot of new parts. The basic motorcycle was unharmed but before I started fixing it another came along and I bought that one instead so I could be quickly riding again.

So I've been gathering parts for many years for the melted bike and I will have it back together soon. I let the other one sit too long (about a month) with modern gas in the tank and now that one is out of commission because the pilot jets are clogged again! When the stars are aligned I hope to have both running, and the melted bike will be restored completely stock and the other will have all my aftermarket parts on it, such as racetech gold emulator fork kit, fork brace, Corbin seat, Jardine exhaust, Fox shock, orange windscreen, small blinkers in rear, tank bra, and RKA saddlebags.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a warm summer and some nice rides. It will be especially satisfying to get my melted bike on the road again after 17 years . . . hope it starts!

Well, I'm at work right now. I found an old goofy picture of me and bike #2 at the base of Ortega Hwy near Lake Elsinore. Sorry, it's the only picture I have available at the moment, but I'll update with current pictures of both bikes ASAP.

Hello all, I haven't had a chance to be very active on the web, but here is a recent picture showing both my motorcycles: DSC03985.jpg
Both are running, but I mostly use the non-stock one . . . hope to put more mods on it later.

    Happy Riding,

    Scott

    Hi Scubalong,

I still have both bikes and they have been stored indoors. Can't believe it's been almost 10 years since I posted here and almost that long since I've been actively riding due to various circumstances. However, I decided to make getting at least one bike cleaned up and back on the road a priority. The main reason both bikes have been down was they both had terrible leakage from the carbs. I thought it was the fuel bowl O-rings but after trials and tribulations working on my restored bike, I discovered it was leaking from the fuel crossover tube joints (see photos). I fixed the leaks by replacing the O-rings and just got it insured, registered, and back on the road yesterday! Took a short ride to HB main street and back with no problems. I thought I would be rusty but I felt very comfortable riding again. I guess it's true one doesn't forget how to ride a bike!

I now live in Los Alamitos near Lampson and Valley View. Do you still live nearby?
