    Hello Gang

I've a feeling I joined this forum about 10-12 years ago but never regularly used it. Perhaps because I've not regularly used my bike for about 10 years. Tut tut, yes I know.

Anyway, I've got a 5th gen VFR800 and I've got it back on the road in Germany this year for some proper usage on the twisty roads and will probably be on here a lot more often now. I did have a Thundercat for about a year which replaced a really nasty Suzuki GS500. I actually found the ER-5 a much better small bike for running about on in the winter - wish I'd kept that instead of the Suzuki, the Thundercat was SUPERB!

I'm about to replace spark plugs and I found a great thread on here from 2009 which covers the job along with the fuel filter but as with all other resources I've seen, nobody has explained how to remove the lower section of the air filter box. I've read that it's a lot of hassle to get off but not actually found any details about why this is so. Does it need to be removed to get to the rear plugs?

    Cheers :smile-new:

    Welcome back, Rocco.

We're simple minds here, so pictures of your bike are always nice.

I can't help you with your mechanical questions. I'm about as efficient as a monkey with a chain saw.

Here is a picture of the old girl.

Will post a bigger, better quality one once I've finished waxing and got her clothes back on.

I don't need to know about your waxing and a naked girl, but thanks for the pic of the bike.

Just taking a quick break after replacing the plugs and air filter. Turns out that one doesn't need to remove the lower section of the air filter housing to replace the plugs. I'm sure most of you knew that already, now I do too! Will have a quick cuppa and then put the fairing back on. Nice easy jobs.

Welcome back, hope you have many safe miles together. Is the Thundercat you talk of the Yamaha 600? Friend of mine had one, looked like a nice all round bike.

Yep, the Yamaha YZF600 indeed. Very similar to the VFR, handles great and has about the same amount of horses.

Put my Viffer back together this afternoon and slapped a bit of polish on her. Here she is, minus the mirrors.
