Stewarts Point / Skaggs Springs Road Northern California

A little north of Sonoma county, (about 70 miles north of San Francisco) Hwy 1 intersects with a road named Stewarts Point Rd. Make a right on it. (If you went left you would be in the ocean.) It starts with several miles of typical CA paved goat trail followed by at least 25 miles of the finest on-camber, intersection-free, law enforcement- free, high-speed sweepers. There are two "slow" turns marked with 20 mph advisories, but you can get though them about 60mph if you don't mind dragging you peg feelers a little. One is the only seriously decreasing radius turn on the whole road. Take care--you will be totally zoned when you get to it. This is the closest thing to riding Laguna Seca, I have ever experienced. The road surface quality is awesome, some of the corners even have "run off", (although some have guard rails and cliffs.) I have talked to hundreds of people who have ridden it and nobody has ever seen a Law Enforcement type, and most of us have never even seen a car. Not to mention, the whole ride up Hwy 1, to get there is beautiful, with great twisties, great views, but a few too many slow motorhomes. There are however, passing lanes about every 3-5 miles on Hwy1. Remember, the cops rarely pull you over for speeding on a two lane road in California. They only get you for passing over a double yellow line.

• Starting point is Honda of Milpedas
• Take 237 West to 880 North to 92 West to 280 North to 19th Ave through San Francisco.
• Take 19th Ave thur Golden Gate Park and across the Golden Gate Bridge. Collection point is the vista point after you cross the bridge.
• Take 101 North thru San Rafael to Ignacio Blvd in Novato and take Ignacio West to Pacheco Shopping center. Breakfast at Wraps in Pacheco Center. Gas at 76 Station after breakfast.
• Take Ignacio back to 101 North. Exit at Old Redwood Highway north of Petaluma.
• Take Old Redwood Highway West (back over freeway) to a right turn onto Stoney Point Road.
• Take Valley Ford to Highway 1 and Bodega Bay.
• Take Highway 1 North to Stewarts Point. Collection point at the shop / gas station at Stewarts Point.
• Take Stewarts Point / Skaggs Springs Road east and Collection point at the Bridge.
• Take Skaggs Springs Road until it ends at the Stop Sign at Fall Creek Road. If there is time loop back to bridge and return.
• Take Fall Creek Road west to Dry Creek Road. Go under 101 South and have lunch in Healdsburg. Gas up at Healdsburg.
• Take 101 Sourth to Golden Gate Bridge and Collection Point on South side of bridge in car park on the right.
• Reverse directions and head for home.
